Home About MLAC

The Mt. Lebanon Aqua Club (MLAC) is the largest competitive swim team in Western Pennsylvania . For 50 years, our coaching staff has offered unparalleled instruction to swimmers of all ages and abilities. From nationally and internationally ranked swimmers to children who have mastered basic swimming skills and are ready for a greater challenge, we have a program that fits your child's needs.

Competitive Swimming

The majority of our swimmers do swim competitively; however, it is not a prerequisite to joining the club. In our year-round competitive swimming program, children are placed in one of five swimming classifications – Novice, Age Group I, Age Group II, Junior, and Senior. Placement is based on age and ability. Practice times vary from group to group but most groups practice a minimum of three times per week. Our more advanced swimmers practice more often. Team members are encouraged to attend 80 percent of all practices, to ensure maximum benefit.

For more information, see “Groups and Membership”.

Non-Competitive Swimming

If a child is not ready for competitive swimming, Blue Groups are viable options for them. These groups practice one hour per week on Saturday afternoons. This program is ideal for the child who wishes to improve his/her swimming skills but is apprehensive about swimming competitively. Swimmers do not need to be pre-evaluated for Blue Groups but should be readily able to swim the length of the indoor pool in freestyle. Blue Groups are taught by MLAC coaches. Children who participate in Blue Groups do not have to be members of the MLAC. For more information and registration forms, please see “Blue Groups”.

Mission...

Mt. Lebanon Aqua Club is a non-profit organization formed to instruct and train children in the development of competitive swimming skills.

Philosophy...

Swimmers who learn correct swimming technique from the very beginning are stronger and therefore safer swimmers throughout their life. It is our goal to develop confident, safe swimmers who will enjoy the sport whether they go on to join a competitive team or just join friends at the pool. Our staff of professional coaches train and supervise a team of high school and college age instructors. We are very proud of the quality programs we offer to the community of Mt. Lebanon.

Values...

Trust, Belief, Committment!

For over fifty years our swimmers have competed on local, regional, national, and international levels. We have even had one of our swimmers participate in the Olympics. In addition, for more than twenty years we have offered swimming lessons to the public. Lessons are offered in the spring at the High School pool and in the summer at the Mt. Lebanon Recreation Center outdoor Pool. Our Instructional programs are advertised in MT. LEBANON MAGAZINE, THE ALMANAC, on Cable Channel 7, and through fliers that are distributed to all Mt. Lebanon public and parochial elementary schools and many of the local preschools.

Mt. Lebanon Aqua Club is the largest competitive swim team in Western Pennsylvania. We currently have over 140 members. Mt. Lebanon Aqua Club is a member of United States Swimming. United States Swimming (USS) is the national governing body for competitive swimming in the United States. Our local swim committee is Allegheny Mountain Swimming (AMS).
