MLAC Meet Info
NOTE CHANGE: Due to AMS meets being filled in advance of the posted Host Team Meet Entry Deadline, we will be implementing a cutoff date for MLAC swimmers to OPT OUT of the meets. Swimmers will be signed up for all meets assigned to their practice group, unless they notify their coach by email by the published MLAC Entry Deadline in the meet schedule below that they cannot attend. This is best done by email from the Coaches Page of our website. Swimmers notifying their Coach after the MLAC Entry Deadline will still be entered in the meet whether they swim or not.
****************************************************************************
If you have questions regarding which meets you should enter, please ask your coach.
Please see our Meet Entry Procedures for an explanation of how we enter meets as a team and for information pertaining to each swimmer's meet entry account.
If you have questions about the meet entry process, ask us.
See the Allegheny Mountain Swimming website for updates and changes to meet times and for directions.

Meet Info for New (and Old Swimmers)
How do I know which events or which day my swimmer swims on a two day meet?
After we send a confirmation e-mail with the entries attached, you can always check out which days the events are by viewing the meet invitations. The invitations for every meet can be found on the following link for AMS, the USS league we belong to:
http://www.amswim.org/schedule_lc.php
Sometimes, two different teams are hosting the same meet. Here's how to figure out which host team's invitation to choose:
Use the meets link on our own www.mlacswimming.com website to find the date of the meet and the host team location that we will be swimming at. Then use this information on the AMS link above to find the correct meet and simply click on the button for the Inv. (invitation).
How do I know which meets my swimmer qualifies for, B, BB, A?
First of all, each class (B, BB, A, etc.) stands for a time class with qualification parameters. As of now, all of our Dolphin Blue and Stingray swimmers who are 9 and older are B meet swimmers. These are the least competitive (slowest) times and once a time gets to a certain point, a swimmer moves up a class to BB. The following link will take you to the USS Swimming Time Standards page:
http://www.usaswimming.org/USASWeb/_Rainbow/Documents/b6f5e251-9707-4d80-92c8-c86992c20e00/2008MotivationalTimes-Top16.pdf
The first page is for Long course meters, in other words, 50 meter pool time standards. We do not use these times until the summer when our long course season begins. For the winter season, use the second page, Short Course yards, find your swimmer's age, and you can see the difference between each time class. The times that are listed are the minimum times which a swimmer can be entered into each event in a meet. It is possible for a swimmer to be a B swimmer in most events, but a BB swimmer in one event. Once they cross a minimum time standard into a higher class, they are not allowed to be entered into the lower class with their higher class times.
