US MASTERS ATHLETE REGISTRATION

Every Masters swimmer (annual, member drop-in, and drop-in guests) must be registered as a US Masters Swimming Athlete member in the current season. This registration with our national governing body provides liability insurance for practices and meets, the ability to compete in sanctioned meets, professional coaching, and more.

Swimmers must complete US Masters Swimming registration on their own, through the USMS website using their own individual online account, which is separate from our SportsEngine platform.

Because USMS and SportsEngine do not sync, each Masters swimmer will need to submit verification to MLAC through the link below.

BELOW IS A SERIES OF FAQs TO ASSIST YOU IN THIS PROCESS

Why do I need this account?

Each Masters swimmer needs to create an account from the US Masters website. This account is used to register swimmers as Athlete Members and complete any trainings (parent education, Officials’, etc).

This account is different than your account on SportsEngine (the MLAC billing and registration platform) and it is a completely separate platform. You can use the same email address for your login info, but there is no relationship between the two platforms in this regard.

Why do I need to register as a US Masters Swimming Athlete?

Athlete registration with US Masters Swimming is required as it provides insurance coverage, professional coaching, unique support and development opportunities within the NGO and Local Masters Swimming Committee (LMSC), and sanctioned competition opportunities.

Additionally, athlete membership comes with access to information to take your swimming ability and technique to the next level, discounts from our partners, a subscription to SWIMMER magazine, the STREAMLINES eNewsletter, discounts from USMS partners, and more!

How do I register as an Athlete?

Masters swimmers should utilize the US Masters Swimming membership page to renew/register.

Do I have to attach myself to MLAC?

No! Masters is rather flexible with being attached to a home club, due to the concept of Masters and the balance of personal and professional lives.

When do I have to complete this?

You must be a registered USMS Athlete - and submit verification to MLAC - before you enter the water at an MLAC Masters practice.

What is the USMS registration calendar?

USMS membership is based on a calendar year period (January-December). However, the registration year starts on Nov. 1 of the current year for the following year. If you join in Nov. or Dec. of the current year, you can get the reminder of the current year and until Dec. 31 of the following year.

How do I generate a copy of my USMS membership card?

Head over to the USMS member services page, input your information in the required fields, and submit. A PDF will automatically generate if you have a current membership and download to your computer. You can then upload this PDF member card to the MLAC Member Verification Form.
