USA SWIMMING MEMBER REGISTRATION

Each youth competitive swimmer needs to be registered with USA Swimming as an Athlete member - either Flex (Piranhas 12&U), Seasonal (Summer Piranhas 13-14), or Premium (Age Group & up). This registration with our national governing body provides liability insurance for practices and meets, the ability to compete in sanctioned meets, professional coaching, and more.

Families must complete USA Swimming registration on their own, through their USA Swimming online account, which is separate from our SportsEngine platform.

Do not use this link if you were approved for MLAC Outreach!

BELOW IS A SERIES OF FAQs TO ASSIST YOU IN THIS PROCESS

Why do I need this account?

Each family needs to create an account from USA Swimming’s website. This  account is used to register swimmers as Athlete Members and complete any trainings (parent education, Officials’, etc). Additionally, the account allows you to access USA Swimming live streams and more, both online and through the USA Swimming app.

This account is different than your account on SportsEngine (the MLAC billing and registration platform) and is a completely separate platform. You can use the same email address for your login info, but there is no relationship between the two platforms in this regard.

How many accounts do I need to have through USA Swimming? Does everyone in my family need to have their own account?

Each family only needs to have one account, typically under a parent’s email.

How do I create a parent account?

Click here. It is recommended that you use a personal email account as it can be difficult to change the email address used for a login.

Can my high school swimmer create their own account?

Only athletes age 16 and older are permitted to create their own account, per USA Swimming. If you have a swimmer that fits this criteria, you can create an account for them, provided you have their USA Swimming Member ID # and they have their own email address - follow these instructions.

Why do I need to register my swimmer as a USA Swimming Athlete?

Athlete registration with USA Swimming is required as it provides insurance coverage, professional coaching, unique support and development opportunities within the NGO and Local Swimming Committee (LSC), and sanctioned competition opportunities.

How do I register my swimmer as an Athlete?

Families should utilize the MLAC Online Member Registration (OMR) link to renew/register their athletes.

Step-by-step instructions (updated for 2026!) have been created for additional assistance.

My athlete is attached to their previous club and needs to complete a transfer and be attached to MLAC. How is this done?

You will need to complete this process on your own, by logging into your account in USA Swimming and following these instructions.
