About MLAC
The Mt. Lebanon Aqua Club (MLAC) is the largest competitive swim team in Western Pennsylvania . For 50 years, our coaching staff has offered unparalleled instruction to swimmers of all ages and abilities. From nationally and internationally ranked swimmers to children who have mastered basic swimming skills and are ready for a greater challenge, we have a program that fits your child's needs.
Competitive Swimming
The majority of our swimmers do swim competitively; however, it is not a prerequisite to joining the club. In our year-round competitive swimming program, children are placed in one of five swimming classifications – Novice, Age Group I, Age Group II, Junior, and Senior. Placement is based on age and ability. Practice times vary from group to group but most groups practice a minimum of three times per week. Our more advanced swimmers practice more often. Team members are encouraged to attend 80 percent of all practices, to ensure maximum benefit.
For more information, see “Groups and Membership”.
Non-Competitive Swimming
If a child is not ready for competitive swimming, Blue Groups are viable options for them. These groups practice one hour per week on Saturday afternoons. This program is ideal for the child who wishes to improve his/her swimming skills but is apprehensive about swimming competitively. Swimmers do not need to be pre-evaluated for Blue Groups but should be readily able to swim the length of the indoor pool in freestyle and backstroke. Blue Groups are taught by MLAC coaches. Children who participate in Blue Groups do not have to be members of the MLAC. For more information and registration forms, please see “Blue Groups”.
